Rust and Mire

Field notes from wet ground and slow iron.

A small notebook about two things that take their time: iron going back to oxide, and ground that holds water. Nothing here is urgent, which is rather the point.

The notes come from walks along old drainage ditches and abandoned machinery: what the rust is doing this season, what the water level says, which bridges and boards held up and which did not.

New pages are written up after the walks, when the mud has dried off the boots. The site is kept by hand and grows slowly, one visit to the marsh at a time.

The notebook itself is just getting started: more entries are on the way, and this page will grow as the season does.
